ABC program " Auction Room"

The ABC filmed an episode for the new TV series "Auction Room" going to air in April during and before our Rock, Pop & Retro auction in early February. A Featherstone sound chair and 1950’s "Lucille Ball" clock sold during the night will be featured along with the history of the items and their vendors. Much fun was had with William McInnes the host of the show, Adam Truscott our auctioneer, and clients. We are waiting eagerly to see the episode which should go to air in early May.

The ABC will be filming again during our Blokey, Sport, Pubanalia, Tools & Military auction on the 5th April.

Items include a large estate comprising a work shop owned by an elderly gentleman who owned trucks and was a fitter and turner. A young man in the 1930’s Depression era, he made work benches and shelves from old crates and wood. Included are work benches, vices some large, such as one owned previously by Victoria Railways, a quantity of fitting and turning tools, wooden and metal ammunition crates, oil cans, large blow torch, wooden tamping tool and various vintage hand tools.

Also included is a Boer War campaign medal, military uniforms, hats, Battle of Britain German aircraft charts, books signed by fighter and bomber pilots, trench art, pilot goggles, cast metal Australian Wirraway and Woomera aeroplane models, original 1960’s Weg posters, Footy records, cards, motoring and wrestling magazines, 1960’s Australian Trotting records, Peter Brock model commodore, an early part skeleton used for anatomical study, tribal artefacts, whisky water advertising jugs and tins.

Items being followed by the ABC along with the respective vendors are: a c1890 Magic Lantern, made in France with a large collection of slides, an amazing ornate Victorian oak Tantalus/games compendium, a large Japanese Meiji period Shibayama bamboo vase and a 1960’s ebony carved African bust.

Entries are still invited and close on Monday 2 nd April.

"Auction Room" TV Series update

The Blokey auction held on the 5 th of April was a huge success, with good prices being paid for a range of collectables. The ABC filmed the night for the upcoming series "Acution Room" which goes to air on the Sunday 15 th of April at 6:00pm.
The Collector Auctions episodes will be shown on 20 th May and the 3 rd of June, we just can’t wait to see the end result of days of filming.
There were plenty of funny moments with William McInnes some we know wont make it past the editing room. All in all it was great fun, the ABC crew were fab to work with.
