WW1 1916 diary HMAT Nestor Port Melbourne – Cape Town

A huge send off for WW1 troops at Port Melbourne, anger and revolt in Cape Town, 70 troops missing, food rationed, for tea dry bread only, gambling and punishment.
Some parts  of a very well written diary of a difficult voyage to Cape Town for over 2000 boys on route to England to fight in Europe.

We are thrilled to be offering this diary, a part of Australian military history, almost a movie script, along with other ephemera during our timed auction finishing December 16th.
